Dance plans: Midstate high schools make dance plans for reunion | La Sentinelle: News
In mid-September, Principal David Harris emailed students and parents at Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School. In it, he announced that the school would not be able to hold his traditional cheering rally and homecoming dance.
“Knowing that we couldn’t run these events like we usually do, we worked to add some events to make sure there would be some fun opportunities to show their pride in the Maroon and Steel. [the school colors]Harris wrote.
In the run-up to Friday night’s back-to-school game, the school hosted a theme spirit week developed by student council members as well as a themed door decorating contest.
The reunion court and the crowning of the Queen and King took place at half-time during Friday’s game. Mention was made of another event in preparation for October.
“I know the pandemic has been a long road for you,” Harris told the students. “While some aspects of life are back to what we expected, others are not. We are traveling. This is a question we may not always see at the next turn or when we reach the conclusion, but I can assure you that we will be with you every step of the way.
Harris thanked the students for their role in helping the school remain open to in-person teaching five days a week.
