  2. Glossier — which makes some of our favorite tinted moisturizers and hyaluronic acid serums — is expected to raise prices by $1 to $4 by July 6, for similar reasons. The decision comes after a tumultuous period for the brand: in January, Glossier laid off a third of its staff.

What we bought this week

Associate Editor Justin Krajeski surprised himself with his love for these thin sunglasses from J.Crew.
Justin Krajeski / Justin Krajeski

Historically, I’ve bought big sunglasses. They work in two stages – one, to keep the sun out of my eyes, and two, to hide my eyes from people looking at my face. I never thought I’d opt for a pair of thin sunglasses, which fail task two. But various Instafamous lifestyle influencers have worked hard to convince me otherwise.

I was shopping at J.Crew one day, and there they were, sitting in front of me. The perfect slim sunglasses – and they came in my favorite turtle pattern. I put them on, looked in the mirror, and reader, I haven’t taken them off yet. Yes, more of my face is visible, but the acetate frames and polycarbonate lenses of these sunglasses are nice enough that, frankly, it’s worth it. — Justin Krajeskiaassociate editor

I love shopping for clothes, but never, ever sportswear. I play football once (sometimes twice) a week and I tend to destroy my clothes when they fall on the grass. I usually buy the sports bras or tank tops on sale at TJ. Maxx in my size with the intention of looking fierce, not cute.

Athletica changed me. While strolling down the main street of my hometown, my mom and I walked into the sportswear store on a whim. I walked away smiling in two Aurora Seamless High Neck Crop Tank Tops. Made from recycled plastic, this chafe-free, moisture-wicking tank top moves with you, and its dense fabric is supportive enough for the soccer field, yet cute enough for brunch. Hashtag, winner. — Christina Colizza, editor

Editorial intern Zoe Malin hasn't worried about her shorts chafing since she bought these JoyLab women's high-waisted woven shorts.

I’m generally against wearing shorts while running because I hate having to deal with chafing. But with the intense heat of this summer, I had to give in and buy a pair. I wanted to buy shorts with a high waist (like this pair from Lululemon) to avoid having to pull them up halfway through. On a trip to Target (my favorite place to shop for clothes), I found JoyLab’s Women’s High-Waisted Woven Shorts, which are nearly identical to Lululemon’s version and half the price. They’re comfortable, lightweight, and have a long enough inseam for my height of 5’4 that chafing wasn’t an issue. I immediately bought another pair after wearing them for the first time. — Zoe Malin, editorial intern
